September 10, 2012, Kitsumkalum signed a Letter of Understanding with British Columbia and Canada. The Letter of Understanding is an agreement that negotiations to this stage are finished. Now the AIP has to be reviewed by the Kitsumkalum people. Following the September 10th announcement, the Kitsumkalum team is distributing copies of these documents: an overview of the AIP (or plain-languages summary), Letter of Understanding, map (see http://www.kitsumkalumtreaty.com/treaty-settlement-land-map) as well as a the draft copy of the Agreement in Principle and the summary booklet of the most important points.
Please review and share these documents with Kalum members. We encourage you to sign up for a home visit where one of our information officers will sit down with you in person or via phone and review the summaries with you and help get your questions answered in order to make an informed decision on treaty.
